The Parade at Home

A collection of photographs and creative writing about how New Orleanians celebrated Mardi Gras during the pandemic.

Foreword written by Big Freedia

Our Mission: Community, Cultural Celebration, Diversity, Resilience, Unity

The Parade at Home captures this moment in history when a pandemic threatened to quell the spirit of Mardi Gras, but the people of this city came together to find creative ways to meet this challenge, demonstrating unity in the face of hardship. From Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, Bryan Batt, and Rockin’ Dopsie to Amanda Jones, an Officer in the Krewe of Eve, and Havilah Malone, best selling author and former Ms. Louisiana Universal, The Parade at Home shares the voices of our community as we tell the story of what Mardi Gras means to the people who love this place—how Carnival isn’t just what we do; it’s who we are.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to The Krewe of House Floats’ charity campaign. Funds from this campaign will be distributed to the following New Orleans organizations:

CultureAid NOLA, Funky Uncle Live and Studio Be’s Eternal Seeds
